My Journey to Organization POST BABY UPDATE

So it's been a while since I wrote my first post about throwing out some mugs...lol

So since miss Arlie has entered the world, she has inspired me to be a better person. One quality that i am really trying to improve is becoming a cleaner, more organized momma.

So after the initial shock of first time motherhood wore off I realized that oh my word my baby is 2 months old... pretty soon I am not going to be able to use her as an excuse anymore!

So there are a few things I am trying to do everyday
  • Wear clean clothes everyday
  • Vacuum (LOVE MY ROOMBA BTW does this job for me)
  • Keep the main areas clean enough for company to drop by
  • Do at least one load of laundry
I know lots of people would read that list and think that's disgusting why don't you already do those things. My answer? I don't know!? Because I am lazy!? For sure I am... But I am aware of it and am working on it.

It also doesn't help that I have two fur machines that just wander around and shed their dirty hair, leave muddy paw prints, rip thing up etc.

So far things are going well. There are still days where I just sit around and watch TV but for the most part I have been doing at least an hour of cleaning every day and while my house is constantly in a state of a bit messy, I am ok with that! Habits take time to form and I am working my way up to having a sparkly clean home all the time.

Arlie's First Vacation!

This past weekend, Arlie & I headed up to Fort St. John BC to visit with my Auntie Julia & Uncle JJ! They were gracious enough to fly us up for the weekend, who can say no to that!?

Mark drove us to the airport Thursday afternoon so he could spend every last second with baby Arlie. Travelling alone with her was tough! I am glad I had the baby carrier so that I didn't have to stress to badly, but she didnt like going in and would thoroughly cry. PLUS Airplane seats are uncomfortable enough without having a little person sharing your seat. Note to future self... wear slip on shoes!!

I know, cheesy airplane window photos, but the view is so amazing I had to!

Day 1 we went shopping in town starting with a cute community craft fair where I bought this nativity sign and a few other Christmas decorations. Auntie Julie stocked up on knitted slippers for her guest room!

Baby snuggles

I mentioned to Auntie while we were shopping that if she saw an individual elf to grab it (anyone who knows me well knows I have been planning Elf poses for YEARS). Lucky for me Auntie had one!! So this is her. Name to be determined ;)

We took Arlie out to meet the horses and Talula was pretty curious!
On Saturday night we had a sock party! Its something I have never done before but it was a great time, and my Auntie is such an amazing host.
The idea behind the sock party was to buy a pair of Christmas socks and fill them with stocking stuffer type things. Then very much like any gift exchange, you pick and steal until everyone has a pair! I ended up getting a pair of socks full of chocolate which is a win.

Auntie Julie made these beautiful cocktails called "Jack Frost", I have no idea the ingredients of the alcoholic version but for me and a few other non drinkers she made a virgin version... Ice, Half Pina Colada mix and Half blue gatorade! It was so good and the color matched to a T!

It was pretty chilly there!! But on the last day we got to go play with her pony Tyrion. Auntie bought Tyrion while I was in labour with Arlie, she says part of the reason was that she was feeling emotional about her great niece being born! Melted my heart. If she still has him in a few years, we will be taking him on loan as Arlie's first pony!
Arlie was in the carrier inside Auntie's coat. She told me that while she took Arlie for a ride, she would cry when Tyrion walked but was happy when he trotted! We night have a little speed demon on our hands already!

When we came in from playing with Tyrion Arlie was so happy! She was wide awake and just staring around strapped to Auntie. Because she had a big jacket on I didn't put the insert in the carrier, so her little head was just hanging there. While Auntie was making Tea I snapped these photos.

Last picture at the airport while Auntie Julia & Uncle JJ were seeing us off. So sad to leave them :(

Miss Arlie on the last plane home! She travelled very well. She was unhappy every time we boarded (4 times) but as soon as we got going she settled right down. I am sure the people on the plane were not happy to see us coming, but we got a few 'Congratulations, she is adorable, she did great' comments which made me feel better!

Fast asleep on moms chest. This is the face you make when you are in the middle between two men and you are trying to function with baby.

OK this is amazing!! So our flight got in at 10:30pm and we were waiting for our luggage to come down. So out comes my leopard suitcase. We waiting for 30 minutes and NO CARSEAT. So naturally I am thinking well this is lovely! Truth be told at that point I was so tired that I was just sitting waiting lol. Anyway, we start to get concerned that we cant go home without the carseat and Mark goes off to start looking for it, and an Air Canada worker comes and asks what we are waiting for. He went to check the system and found the carseat was in yyc, so he sent someone to check a few places but they came back empty handed.
So I am like... this sucks, we have to sleep at the airport oh well at least there are hot dogs at that kiosk over there.
Well the worker comes back and goes so I see Mom is tired and I want to get you guys home, so I am going to give you a brand new carseat. So I am thinking cool, a loaner carseat that we will have to bring back and exchange for ours when they find it. So I go to get this seat and he takes my info so they can deliver our seat the next day. so then he goes... 'For liability reasons I can't take this back so just put it in your other car or something... and its convertible so it will last up to 30 lbs' WHAT?! So then im like... don't ask questions just take it and run. So TOAST to Air Canada for the BRAND new carseat and for delivering ours for free!!

Sad to leave our family, but glad to be back with Daddy again.
